Wonderful images; well-done! (Says one Rex to another Rex. )
It is encouraging to see that you captured these with a 300mm lens. It gives me hope! Your skills as a crane-whisperer probably have much to do with the quality of your captures.
I am endeavoring to buy a piece of my great-parents’ farm, a decently-preserved piece of Tarkington Prairie, from an aunt, so funding longer, faster lenses is on the back burner, for a while. Plus, I am more mobile/agile with a 300mm lens.
Thanks, Rex. I've used this lens for a long time and it is agile. As far as my proximity, these birds are wild, can come and go, but are accustomed to people. Wish I was a whisperer. I have a similar path as you, gov't work...retired firefighter, but my camera work has been only for fun.

Fabulous Rex. It's commendable you could get this close. I have not been able to get this close ever. Still need to figure out how to do that.
Thank you Bibek. Just have to find cooperative birds.

Thanks, Kenny. By the way, haven't seen your eagles or gorgeous kingfishers, lately.
