Went for a wedding in the family in 2017. Carved out a week before the event and took a quick trip to Bandhavgarh for 3 nights. I had no expectations of being able to see a tiger in the 4 days that we would be roaming the jungle.
I was told that there was a particular tigress, in a Zone of the forest referred to as Tala. This tigress, Spotty had a set of cubs that were almost 3 years old at that point in time. They were still together, almost independent, and best of all undaunted to explore.
All the 20 odd vehicles that were roaming the forest, did not deter them from carrying on with their daily activities. 20 odd vehicles with some 60+ cameras (mobile and regular) clicking was a botheration for us, wonder what the poor cubs felt. At least in two of the frames, their dissatisfaction is pretty evident. Fortunately they went away into the reaches of the bamboo groves to rest and get away from the roving bipeds.
This was the beginning of my love story for this part of the world. I only had the 100-400 LII and no idea about what was the right reach for something like this. This was more of a learning experience that taught me what to do the next time, I go. So go I did, in March 2019, few friends in tandem. That's for another set. Today I am setting the time machine back to Nov 2017.
Our first sight of the cubs.
