Do Sigma zoom lenses have that annoying inverted zoom direction that Tamron have compared to native Sony glass?

Price is surprisingly fair, even though it is ~40 - 50% more than the Tamron 28-75 street price (in Europe).

Apart from price, I am not sure yet whether I want to trade 4mm more at the wide end for 285g more weight.
I think there needs to be an additional differentiating factor. Maybe if the bokeh is much better on the Sigma, I might buy it.

I'm in the same boat. If the upgrade over the Tamron is good I might well consider trading that in for the new Sigma.
If bokeh performance and image quality are significantly improved I might be able to justify the additional 2-300 euros in price.

Was not expecting the price. That was preorder territory for me based on the specs. I’ll admit that it’s mostly FOMO driving this, but Sigma’s track record has been pretty good for E mount of late. I’m certain it won’t quite be 35/1.2 quality, but it’s worth checking out at that price.

Yeah at $1100 I can say that my qualms regarding size and weight are seeming less important. I have the 24-70 ZA now which isn’t great but it’s useful. I could see myself saving for this Sigma if IQ proves to be good. I think I’d prefer this to a 24-105 just for the speed.

That price is pretty good! Most were predicting higher. I guess we'll see how the IQ and AF are! My guess is that they will be great as have these latest DN mirorless versions been with the 14-24 and 35 1.2. Timing wise this would make for a nice christmas present 🤔😁

So how accurate are these pre-order dates? Is it spot on or +/- a few days or +/- a few weeks?

I tend to hate these zooms but for this price i may change my mind. These are great for event work . Ill wait to see its IQ

My best zoom at the moment is the Canon 24-70/2.8L II, and close runner up is the Sony 24-105/4G, but it is slower and slightly less blisteringly sharp, just by a smidge.

Even though not a pressing issue for me to buy the new Sigma, it is very appealing. I will probably buy the 14-24 Art and 35/1.2 Art before I buy this new mid-range Sigma zoom.

IMO, Sigma is doing everything right on their lenses. I'm super-impressed with the 24/1.4 Art and 50/1.4 Art lenses, so it's all looking good for me coming from Sigma!
