The thing that really is a plus for me is the close focus/magnification ability. The only question that remains for me is how well it'll actually perform.
Much like I tell my wife when she's trying to convince me of how good of a deal something is, just because a turd is 50% cheaper than something else doesn't make it not a turd. Hoping this Tammy isn't one. 
The MTF looks a bit better than the 17-28 zoom, and the zoom is pretty good. Bokeh looks great as well from the web samples.

this definitely makes it a tough sell, the 17-28 is legit small and range is nice. I still like the release because if you're using only one lens, it's half the size and weight. This may not be a big deal, but if you're carrying multiple lenses, it can add up. I can see myself paring the 20 with a 50 or 85, ultra small and rangy setup that can get a good variation of shots.
