p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Transition harrier

An encounter with the rarely seen adolescent harrier. This morph is half way between a juvenile and an adult, the rust and orange spots on the chest are forming while the pupil is still dark. It will eventually come bright yellow when the bird matures. The underwings will become bright grey with spots as well.

Shot with the D5 and 600E FL + TC 1.4 ISO 640 f/5.6 at 1/3200 sec hand held C1P hope you like it. I just finished my D5 review and this image was a part of it

Wow Arash amazing. One question if you don’t mind, what prime + tc combo gives 850mm? I am aware that Nikon has several TC choices but was told that not all are good.

It is the 600 + 1.4 EXIF reads 850mm for some reason

600 * sqrt(2) = 848.53 which is closer to 850 than 840.

According to Nikon's publication the multiplier is 1.4X so the correct focal length is 840mm but maybe they are under-rating it and it is really 1.42X. It is more likely an error when the camera saves the EXIF with the 600. with the 500 it records the correct value, i.e. 700mm
