After visiting Murchison Falls National Park we made our way over to the forests of Kibale in order to track and habituate various chimp families. The experience was fantastic, and the pics don't do the day justice. Tough shooting conditions, but I tried to make the best of it.

Perfect pics? Nah. But hopefully enjoyable!

It was a wonderful day, KD! It's really interesting to see the extremes in behavior with these chimps - they can go from super chill and hanging out to causing a complete ruckus in no time!

Very impressive set of images!

My understanding is that human contact with primates is closely regulated. Can you say a bit about the circumstances of your visit?

Thanks much, Dave! You are correct about the regulation - we had to obtain permits through the Ugandan Wildlife Authority in order to spend time with the chimps. Well, the travel company we booked through (Insight - great experience!!) obtained the permits.

I'm not sure about the chimps, but I do know that the waitlist for the gorillas can be up to and over a year for a permit.

I believe that our guide said that it had become infected or something similar and that the poor dude is going to be limited to one eye. That's got to be tough when depth perception is so crucial.

Beautiful set Jeff! 16 is very nice and should be printed along with 19. Maybe fix the highlight area a little.

Do you know if the cataract on the one chimp is from getting old or some type of injury?

This had to have been an amazing experience that not many of us will ever have to opportunity to enjoy.
