Picking through the press release I noticed a few other interesting and promising tidbits:

"Real-time Eye AF for animal augmented with a new algorithm" Is this new since A9 FW 6.0?...birds?

"with newly optimized AF algorithms that provide notably enhanced AF precision and performance" I like the term "notably" which hopefully means they are noticeable and significant.

And here is where they may be talking about jpeg improvements which could correlate with PMR's comments:
"Latest developed image-processing algorithm reduces noise in the medium-to-high sensitivity range while improving subjective resolution and image quality"

Good work Sherlock. I'm wondering though if that does apply to Raw files as well.

Unlikely...especially with that other quote I posted.

The noise reduction is based on the chip behind the sensor, not from the sensor itself. There are a few different parts of the camera electronics that impact noise.

So it is in the RAW file or Jpeg? Because most of us don't shoot jpegs but if you do then great.

Generous to a fault.

He doesn't get paid to make those videos.

I'm an Artisan too.

He does it because he cares about sports photography.

He's also THE ONLY PERSON WHO'S ACTUALLY USED THE CAMERA THAT IS TALKING ABOUT IT

You should know that all of those points are irrelevant , and are logical fallacies to the issue at hand. All of those claims you've made about the man may be true, but he still may have a very real bias to Sony cameras due to being an artisan/ambassador for the product.

We saw a blatant case of this when the new Nikon FF mirrorless cameras were announced. There was a B&H video with about three Nikon "ambassadors" who were gushing with nothing but praise and an obvious absence of anything critical, when criticism was due. It was embarrassing. That is what we're talking about here. The fact that your friend had not one criticism to offer ought to set off any thinking person's skepticism.

You may wish to brush up on common & popular logical fallacies:

As far as I know there is no software supporting A9II files unless PMR had an update to Edge from Sony.

Wouldn't the present Sony "Edit" software handle the a9II Raw files?

I’m making the jump up so I just listed my minty fresh A9.

Just out of curiosity, the A9 II will not come with current A9 v6.0, but rather FW 1.0 per the new body, yes?

Raw files are always model-specific, even with the same sensor. The raw converter doesn't understand whether its the same sensor, it just sees a unique camera model that it does not have a converter for.

I know Pat. I like Pat. We are friends. But I also am pretty sure he is biased in favor of Sony and that is fine. In his position he should be. He is a salesman for Sony. That's not a slight. I'd like his position. While he may not get paid directly for the videos he does get special access to Sony products and I'm pretty sure he travels for them at their expense. I'm also sure he enjoys his status as an

Wish I could put that on my BIO along with the title of Sony Ambassador too. But I haven't earned either...yet

I would assume it will have its own FW sequence and be on 1.0 or 1. something.

We saw the A9 get some amazing FW updates over its 2.5 years. Going forward I'd say it safe to say that the A9 won't be getting anymore but who knows what they might bring over the next 2 years to the A9II since they did upgrade the processor. Things like bird eye-af and new AF modes could all be possible for the A9II going forward. Another reason I'm still considering the upgrade myself despite my initial disappointment in the MPs.

Sony will have to put out an update. I'm sure they will by the time the camera ships. Also probably Adobe will update DNG converter, LR and CameraRAW soon. Especially if they don't have to change much from their current A9 recipes.

SAR reports: "Sony has invited journalist to test the new A9II body ..." Oct 24/25th NYC

Interested to see what comes out of this...and specifically who participates. Would be nice to see other professionals beyond the normal Youtubers/reviewers.

Who would have thought a replacement would drive up prices? But it has, for now.

I've got a slightly dinged one that may go up soon for a bit of discount off of these most recent listings.

He was and has been a regular contributer for Sports Illustrated and a number of other sports magazines in the US and abroad. Photographers are not generally on staff at magazines. Only writers are. You can be on contract, I don't know if he was, but not staff. Do some research and then write your response, not the other way around.

Just to make sure you see this. I am honest, I don't fabricate. Photographers aren't "employed" by magazines. He has been a contributer, a regular contributer to SI for years and years. Go ahead and ask him. Oh and his video wasn't a review, it was point by point why a sports photographer would like the updates on the new camera, that is a totally different animal.

Personally I don't see why it matters if someone is biased or not. They can still provide great information. Who buys equipment based on what one person says anyway? YouTube is fantastic because you can see different opinions and perspectives of products and how they function. It makes no difference if someone is bias or not because another Youtuber will point out any potential flaw in a review if for no other reason but to differentiate themselves. It's a great checks and balances type system. The trick as a viewer is just keep an open mind and take bits and pieces from multiple places. Which is very easy and fast to do . Then try the camera or lens for yourself. You will know who you can trust to review and who you may be more skeptical of very quickly.

There are a number of perks they get, 30% of gear, access to gear before anyone else. I haven't seen the full list, but that was the stuff I remember.

There are also rules in place that they can't use any other gear if Sony has a comparable item. What that means is they could use a 50mm f/0.95 because Sony has no equivalent but they could not use a Sigma 135mm ART.
