I realize the lens isn't in stock at any of the normal sources. Anyone have a clue when the next shipment will hit the big stores like B&H where I pre-ordered a few weeks ago. Bird shooting season is now in Az and I need one soon Thanks

Camera Canada came through for me about 4 weeks ago. Not sure what their stock is like, but pricing was excellent and free shipping only took about a week.

I got this on Sept 23rd from BH:

I am sorry about the delay with this order. We have been working diligently and persistently with the manufacturer to get a delivery date for this item. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has been heavily back ordered and at each contact the delivery date has been moved. We still do not have a delivery date for this item, as of today, the manufacturer is shipping very small quantities so when they do arrive will do our best to ship the orders promptly.

So - I too would love to find this lense somewhere. I ordered from BH on Sept 4th hoping to have for a trip leaving this next Thursday.

Over the years whenever I wanted to find a lens on a timeline it was always possible to find it somewhere. Doesn't seem like anyone has the 200-600 unless you want to pay a premium on Ebay.

I had the fortune of finding one on Amazon. It was actually sold by K&M Camera but fulfilled by Amazon. I refreshed the Amazon page twice a day every day until one became available. It took a couple weeks for one to pop up. Keep at it!

Talk to Kenmore. They may have a list going by now, but they sometimes get overlooked. Right now, they have every FF Sony lens except the 200-600 in stock.

Other smaller stores that have come through for me when the big guys were hopelessly back-ordered: Mike's Camera in Boulder, Allen's Camera in PA, and Bergen County Camera in NJ.

Did you try service photo? They actually had it in stock when I suggested you try them. I got an email from the owner letting me know they had it.

I'm struggling as it appears many folks on this lens. I've been doing the right thing (?) and supporting my local camera store (Mikes in Boulder) - but I checked with them today and I've moved two places up in two weeks (Currently #24 on their list). Heading to a safari in SA in a few weeks and starting to look at other options.

If anyone knows of a store that has one - would appreciate a heads up. I can see there appears some availability on the gray import sites - that remains an option as a last resort.

I managed to locate one at Kenmore Camera. Was reserved for someone else who changed their mind. Should ship on Monday. Pretty sure the batch they have coming in are all sold. Kenmore is a top notch seller. I have purchased from them before.

I know that this lens is well received but I didn’t expect that it is sold out everywhere... I checked that big auction site and the price there was higher than even $3K. That’s quite a sizable premium for a $2K lens. Obviously, the demand pushes the price up significantly.

Best approach for those still looking is to simply look up the list of Sony USA authorized dealers and start calling. I was able to locate about 5 copies either in stock ready to ship that same day or by next day by doing just that. Smaller, regional dealers are more likely to have a short wait list or no wait at all.
