I just landed in Anchorage. I’ve just retuned from the far outreaches of Alaska where I spent many days with some of the largest brown bears on the planet. Seeing these bears during a late September salmon run is really is quite the sight! The late salmon run allows them to really pack on the pounds in preparation for winter hibernation. Some of them can hardly walk as they gorge themselves. This bear below, wasn’t the largest I saw, but still quite large.
