From this morning with the Sigma S and Nikon 200 F4
The sun was rising directly over my back so I had no choice on the fishing egret other than to just expose for the bird and let the background go to black. I helped that along a little in post on the first one.

Oh what a sweet set !!! Gorgeous shots. Absolutely love the egret reflections especially the first one.

Thank you. I'm really just getting into the whole bug thing. Really enjoying it. I just said to my wife at dinner, "it's amazing how many different kinds of strange bugs are around once you start looking for them. " She was really impressed.

Before I got the 200 I was using an older Sigma 180 3.5 DG, which I still have. It was relatively inexpensive so it's not a big deal. Honestly, I'm trying to decide if the slight upgrade in IQ is worth the infuriating need to switch the lens to Manual in order to touch up focus. It's not a constant problem because I do use MF a lot of the time but I've been using AF on faster moving critters like butterflies and fumbling with that selector ring is not handy at all. So the jury is still out. I just hate to give up that Nikon because the images are just so nice but it seems silly to keep both. Thanks for taking a look !

They are all excellent, but I agree that the first two are the best of the bunch. The compositions and contrast with the dark backgrounds are superb.
