Here are a couple of moon shots from last week, one full and one not.
I prefer the not because the shadows show crater details and my girlfriend prefers the full.
I'm just curios what do you prefer when shooting the moon and why?

Thanks for looking.

Hi Tim,

I like the first one as it shows more crater details.

The second one (Full Moon) reminds me of a portrait taken head on with a built in / camera mounted flash. Being able to get the flash off camera gives better detail and pleasing pictures.

Cheers

Yes, I always like the partial moon over the full moon as forms are shown where the shadow and light passes over the craters.

The first for the reasons you mention. Nicely done.

+1. I, too, prefer the shot of a gibbous moon (not a full moon)

Hi Tim,

Your full moon looks like everyone else's, a bit on the flat side due to lack of shadows. My personal favorites are when there is so much detail you can see the flags left behind on the moon.

Of course I have a different opinion ................I think the focus on full moon is on the outer perimeter and that there is more texture to show that could sway me.............however for the reason of 'shadow' texture I prefer #1 but .............................I could possibly take side with your gal
I like the full view
