Someone had to start it :-).

It would probably be nice if people could approximate the crop they used for their post as I think many people will be interested in web published quality while cropping.

I'll start with one not cropped at all, just resized for web. Second is a 100% crop of the same shot

So not the best night for playing, but I was able to get what I feel are 2 good high ISO shots. One at 6400 the other at 12800 using the 200-600. Both are hand held, very heavy crops (I included one non-cropped to show you). Both follow my normal workflow. You can see in the 12800 shot there are some artifacts left over from noise removal. Not horrible, but nothing I'd be bragging about either. The 6400 shot I feel pretty good about, especially given the distance to subject (which is why I bought this thing!)

The full frame shot has no noise removal applied.

I love how the doggos are our first models.

First pic snapped after power-up, just on A priority, nothing configured yet, basic processing in LR beta profile.

Zero complaints... I think it looks fantastic. Same general IQ as r3 but "more", is just my un-analytic first impression. Colors are very true, just about perfect with no adjustment.

On a side-note, I feel like this same pic in the same room/lighting on the r3 would have kicked to a higher ISO. This automatic'd at 100, and I think usually I see 2-300 under similar conditions on the r3. Could be imagining it and certainly not scientific.

Quick walk-around during lunch just to get some more early images up.

Again just basic LR adjustments with the beta profile. I'd characterize the output as crisp, "energetic" colors but not over-baked, just enough but not overkill pop. Basically a nice balance of realistic and artistic. Sorry I don't have better words for it. Just my $.02

The ability to get tight crops and still preserve a good amount of detail seems pretty solid. Expected I guess.

Couple of jpegs from snaps I made at my office today. I meant to get outside and take some pics, but work intervened so I made a couple of guys in my office let me take a quick snap or two with my new toy.

ISO 1600 pushed a stop also. Sigma 35/1.2:

Overcast day for a post-work expedition. I guess its a good example of ISO performance.

Usually a new camera release floods the forum with lots of cat shots...but it looks like the A7RIV appeals more to the dog lover out there

Dogs rule. I actually have three dogs in the house this weekend and no camera.

It is better, Fred. It is noticeably more detailed. I tend to focus on magnified view and don’t think it is night and day better for this with focus peaking, but it is better and I think for those with good eyes, the ability to focus without magnifying will improve. I did the second portrait shot above without magnification (I had not fiddled enough to figure out how to do focus magnification on a purely manual focus lens) that I posted here and I was more confident that it was in focus than I would have been with an R3 but I was still relieved to see it was pretty sharp when I opened it on the computer.

You set “Focus Magnifier” to a custom button.
