You have an adult Green Heron, always much darker and much less streaking than the juveniles, and you have an adult Laughing gull transitioning to non-breeding plumage. A juvy would be browner. If you're interested, I just completed the 3rd of 3 pieces on the Green Heron. In that 3rd one, I have photos of both juvy and adult Green herons. Here's the link. Good luck!

Thanks for setting the record straight David. I am a 0 on 1 to 10 with bird identification. The little rookery island seemed to have mostly young birds so I guessed these were juvenile also. I have never been able to get that close to a Little Green Heron.
