p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Anyone get Godox G3 firmware upgrade working for MAC?

I've downloaded the latest and greatest Godox G3 firmware update application now available fore Mac.
Installs successfully but I can't get it to recongnize when I attach a TT685S flash or XproS trigger.
It doesn't thing the device is attached.

Also not sure if it understands the files I extract from the firmware .rar files either since it doesn't seem to want to open them.
One is a TT685S_V2.1.fri file for the flash and the other is a XproS_V1.2.dfu for the trigger.

I thought these were supposed to be .bin files but I don't see a file like that.

Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Steve

You will need to check but you need to use the correct version of the loading software for the correct item,

So I believe you need G2 for those items,

I did this before I realized I needed G1 for an older ad360

So only the very latest products, updated after G3 became available can be updated. I guess I need to go buy a Pentax and then an XproP and TT350P and V2TS .
This is pretty lame I guess. Just my humble opinion.

Maybe there is another good flash/lighting supplier available to use on the Sony that does have such a lame approach to firmware upgrades.

You have 3 update programs G1 G2 and G3
Depending on your product you need to use the relevant program,
So if godox produce an update for the XPro then you need to update this on the G2 updater program,
If you look at the download page on the godox site you will see 3 tables, one for each updater, and in the table all the relevant products are listed,

For Windows users, be aware that you need to open the firmware updater program with Administrator rights ( at least for G1, the version used by my Flash and wireless controller ). Just click the mouse’s right button over the G1.exe file and in the pop-up menu select ‘run as administrator”.
If you run the software as ordinary user, the program will start correctly and will detect the device but when you click “update”, it will pop up a message saying ‘cache failed’ and will stop.
Godox doesn’t says a word about this matter in the English/Chinese pdf file containing the firmware update instructions. Really a shame.
After stumbling myself into the “cache failed” error, I googled a bit and luckily found out a youtube video where an user gives the easy solution. Kudos to him and thumbs down to Godox for this incredible omission.
