Yeah, I have the same setup. But I also bought the CPL+ND64 as well as the Kase ND8 rear filter. The $200 Dealzone on the lens and 20% Nisi sale was a flame that this little moth couldn't resist.

I figure I can go

CPL only
CPL + ND8
CPL/ND64 only
CPL/ND64 + ND 8

But the extra round filter is like a frisbee and I would love to put it in something that gives it a little protection, and ideally doesn't lay against the filter surface and muck it up.

Ah, didn't realize you got a second round filter.

Lee makes a 150x150 tin that if imagine would fit the filter.

Thanks! I'll check it out, it seems like it would be worth a shot. Probably the only gotcha might be the thickness of the filter.

Edit: After looking at it, it seems like exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again!

I second this recommendation. The whole set up is quite slim (for the size of it), fits nicely in the bag and is very well protected.

EDIT: Didn't see follow ups. Disregard.

Aurora just sent me this info:

___________________

"We finally have our patent application accepted so we can now reveal the new filters in public. Here is a short video we will publish tomorrow officially.

We plan on having a Kickstarter crowdfunding process next week. We will have five formats to support: Canon EF (11-24 etc.), Nikon 14-24, Sigma 14-24 EF, Sigma 14-24 E, and Sony 12-24.

The Sigma 14-24 Sony E mount design is 95% complete except a few minor changes so we will start production for the Sigma 14-24 Sony E mount first, hopefully having the products for sales in August. The Nikon 14-24 and Sony 12-24 will be in September/October schedule as the designs are not fully complete and they are more difficult to deal with."

That looks so much simpler to deal with than the Kase. I'm all in too based on what I see in the video.

Aurora was ready to start selling their magnetic filters a couple months ago right before Covid-19.
Kudos to their creativity and insisting on a great idea to mount/unmount rear filters more conveniently. On top of that, they are using the thinnest Scott glass possible which I consider the most important feature. Light Pollution rear filters will be also available.

I finally took a real outing to try out the lens - a backpacking trip exploring uncharted Indian cliff dwellings. This lens is stellar! Shot at 14.7mm with the original A7r (yep - this is still my favorite camera for backpacking). Dave

Cool photo. Mind sharing your editing process? Also, why the original A7R?

I shot 3 focus stacks of three 2-stop brackets - of which I used 2 of each 3 shot bracket. So this is a blend of 6 photos.

Why the A7r when backpacking? I shoot A7r and A7rII because they are the only A7r models that allow the smooth reflection app - which I love. The A7r is 25% lighter than the A7rII, which is a no brainer for backpacking. I do not use IBIS, which makes it again a no-brainer for backpacking. Also the difference between 36mp and 42mp is negligible and believe it not the A7r has a slightly better dynamic range at low ISO, which for landscape is my modus operandi for everything except star shots.

BTW I would say that at least 95% of my use with this lens is with MF. This lens works as good as a mechanical lens for manual focus!

One from before quarantine took place here in Croatia. Now that things are looking better, I'm looking forward to revisiting this place in hope of more interesting weather. BW for now.

Huh. This is actually a really good idea. I did love the original form factor for my A7, but had no regrets jumping to the A7rII, but with A7r's now available used for something like $500, I might have to pick one up at some point. That 200g savings is an extra prime in the bag.

I can't wait for the Aurora solution, I just starting trying to practice mounting and dismounting the Kase. I thought I was getting the hang of it, and I broke it.

Yeah, not only is it hard to insert...it doesn't seem to want to tilt up and down to mount and dismount. Put any stress on it and it will snap.

And I was in the comfort of my home at a desk. Can't imagine being in the woods somewhere shooting waterfalls.

It's very possible that I'm a klutz though.

The lens is ridiculously sharp, so I will make something work. Even at 24mm which is supposed to be weaker, it beats any of the prime I have.

Bruce, in your first image with the tree did you do any correction for perspective distortion? I only ask because I've previously only used wide angle for effect and I'm used to placing my horizon for landcapes in the lower or upper third of the frame. When I'm at 14mm I'm having to correct for distortion in post, which results in key stoning, so I'm cropping and throwing away part of the image. I don't know if I have to concentrate on technique more or if this is just something to plan and account for when framing at such wide angles.
