I'm glad you stayed to capture this, it is a beautiful image. It really makes me want to get back out there.

Daniel,
Thank you very much. The place is deserted :-) (Yeah as if I expected anything different in a desert :-)) So staying back has its issues when you are by yourself. The biggest is getting lost in the darkness. But thank god I had my car in sight all the time.

very nice shot! Death Valley is one of the few major NP's in the southwest i always seemed to have excluded during countless trips to the southwest. Hope to get there one of these days.
Thank you Khurram.
I spent a lot of years studying Geology though make a living with software these days. The Southwest is among the most interesting places on this planet. Utah, Arizona, New Mexico gives us a lot, but the entire Basin and Ridge landform of eastern California and Nevada has some spectacular sights. Also given that it gets extremely HOT over the summer, people avoid this place. But the cooler months bring in a lot of interesting elements. What little moisture makes over the Sierra, adds spectacular opportunities for the landscape images. The incredible detail we find in the salt crystals, mud cracks, 1.7 Billion old rocks to the larger patters in the lacustrine deposits at Zabriskie is worth a visit. I am sure you will love this place just for the sheer variety it provides to experience nature.
