Beautiful. How many planes/satellites did you have to remove?
I haven't used pixinsight but I've heard a lot of astro pros use it. Is it pretty straightforward to learn, and better than lightroom/photoshop?
Thank you! Believe it or not, no planes or satellites needed to be removed from this. Typically if a plane/satellite is caught in my shot, I will wait for it to pass and reshoot. Alternatively, I may shoot a stack sequence of 10 or so images, and the stacking algorithm will cancel it out. For this shot, I took 3 images. The first 2 had planes, but this shot was clear, so I just processed the one frame.
Pixinsight is quite daunting to use at first as it works quite differently to the typical sliders and curves found in LR or PS. Its tools are strictly focused on astrophotography and has some absolutely exceptional features just for the field that you would need to spend hours of tweaking to match what a single adjustment can do in Pixinsight in some cases. I am still learning as I go, as I am sure I probably know a good 10% of the software—if that... This all said, the internet is the resource I have been using for processing tutorials, and there sure is a plethora of them!
