p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · I think that I am going to put my whole Mamiya 7II Kit up for sale

This is not an add but I wanted to give everyone an equal heads up on this. I am thinking about putting my entire Black Mamiya 7II kit up for sale. I haven't used the camera for some years. I still have to check everything, but I suspect everything should be very highly rated and will include the 43mm, 50mm, 65mm, and 150mm Mamiya lenses with hoods and finders for the 43mm and 55mm lenses. B+W MC UV filters are on all of the lenses. The standard and wide Mamiya strap included with the camera. Additional accessories in the kit are the Kirk L Bracket for the Mamiya 7II, Mamiya 7 Close-up Adapter Kit, Mamiya 7 Polarizer with Singh-Ray Warm Polarizing glass (replacing the original glass not the newer LB version), Finder for the Mamiya 150mm, and the Mamiya External Battery Case (PE702) will all be available.

I have to get a battery for the camera. I appear to have misplaced the camera instructions but will include a copy on a CD with the camera. The camera has a relatively small number of rolls that have been run through the camera. But, I have no idea and I am the second owner and it was basically like new when I purchased the camera around 2004 I believe.

This is a beautiful system for anyone that likes a film rangefinder camera but prefers something larger than a Leica.

If anyone has any interest in any or all of the system, please let me know as I get everything together and start to prepare photos.

Rich

Good luck with the sale, Rich. I'm genuinely surprised no one's come up with a Mamiya 7 or Bronica RF adapter for the GFX or X1D. Seems like a no-brainer, particularly for the X1D.

It’s a hard decision to make.
I still have my Mamiya 7II kit, and every other kit I’ve bought.
GLWS!

Princes for well-known film cameras from reputable brands are going to continue going up (much more than seen just from inflation adjustments). The film cameras which I bought in 2016 have doubled or more than tripled in value since. Lenses also go up but not as quick as the cameras in general. My rule of thumb: if you have good film gear and you don't absolutely need $$$ now, better hold on to it. Prices for digital gear will always deteriorate independent on the brand, but good film gear does now the opposite driven by supply and demand plus a more and more limited market what will be available in working condition of those cameras made > 40-60 years ago.

I sold most of my 4" X 5" gear last year. I don't need the money. But, I am not using and haven't used the Mamiya system for probably more than 10 years. Like everyone, I am aging and am now 65 1/2; there is only so much more time that I can use or carry some of the larger gear including some of the bigger and longer Sony lenses. I am really thinking about adding the 200-600mm G lens to my arsenal and possibly one of the cameras to be released. I do not intend to let my 100-400mm GM lens go however.

Well, age and change of interest in gear is certainly a valid reason. If the gear is just sitting around, and you know that you are not using it again, and you don't want to wait for a higher sales price later, better sell it at this point. Also reduces unnecessary clutter at home. So far I only did this once when I sold all my Canon APS-C crop sensor gear > 5 years ago. I knew I am not going back to smaller sensor sizes, so it was a good time to sell my crop-sensor based gear what I had.

I just bought a Mamiya 7 a couple of days ago. I haven't shot a full roll yet and I know at least a couple are not going to come out due to operator error but hopefully I will get at least a couple of decent ones.

Especially true, I think, for mechanical shutter cameras, some of which can still be repaired today. I was looking at Rollei 2.8X’s for a while, but it seemed like they would go up in price daily.

But yeah, well exposed 2 1/4 transparencies are objets d’art all by themselves.

I've sold off most of my film gear, RZ, Canon and Leica, though there's still a couple of Sinars kicking around and random bodies but little of great value. Feels good to be rid of them, more money to spend on useful stuff. I have to admit to keeping a Canon 1v, just because it's a thing of beauty.

Knowing that there is no "right or wrong", I just did the opposite in the past few years - I bought several film cameras from Leica, RZ67, Hasselblad, Swiss Alpina rail, but I was also very fortunate grabbing them when the price was still lower and for some very good deals. I just added a nice Leica IIIc. I am using digital now to maybe 30% at max when I take photos. I work much less on PP these days, slowed severely down upgrading digital gear etc.

Have gone fully digital, sold off the 4x5 which wasn't getting used. Feel good about it all.... then added a Hassy 501C, couldn't resist.

I have a system similar to that of the OP except that I have three bodies which are useful as film magazines. I was beating myself up for keeping it since it has scant use. But every time I look it over the precision of the lenses (especially the 43mm) just speaks to me.

However, now that they don’t make them any more prices are edging up. So I have decided to use the investment excuse to retain my system. As an asset it’s appreciating faster than some stocks I own.
