Wow, I didn't realize there were this many Sony lenses with aperture rings. Add to that the Voigtlander and Zeiss Loxia lenses.

The A7C type body, with fewer dials, seems like less of an issue with so many lenses with aperture rings.

I should have added that the ones I listed are all autofocus. The Fujifilm X-mount has gotten competition.

The number of AF lenses with aperture rings dawned on me, when Sigma introduced the three new Contemporary 24/3.5, 35/2 and 65/2. A pleasant surprise, once I realised the scale of it.

Hi Fred! Several questions!
Curious to hear your thoughts on whether the 45C gaps well with the 24GM and 85GM/Batis 85.

The CV40 used to be my normal lens in between the 24 and 85. I determined that I prefer AF for this FL, and as such, think that the 45C would be great for my needs. However, the 5mm (or 3.5mm since CV40 is actually slightly narrower than 40) extra reach is making me a little uneasy. Do you think this is a non-concern and that the FOV is similar enough? Would the 45C still gap well with the 24GM and

I tested a number of 45mm and 50mm lenses and estimated that the Sigma 45 is slightly wider than 45. I’d estimate 43mm and I recall someone saying the same thing in either this or another thread.

All my lenses have aperture dials, but to get the Fuji feel, you'd really need to be able to replace or reprogram the mode dial for shutter speed. I actually wouldn't mind a sticker and a menu option. But... that's never going to happen.

I agree, I forgot that Fuji has got a dedicated shutter speed dial.

I've never used the shutter speed dial on my Fuji, I have to admit. I guess that says I'm not an action photographer?

I tried to measure the FOV of the Sigma 40/1.4 and got right at 40mm, which may make sense because it is based on a cinema/video lens which maybe should be specced correctly. Then comparing the 45/2.8 I got an implied FL of ~42.5mm for it, not accurate to three significant figures. The 45/2.8 is definitely a little wider than nominal.

Yes, I agree. The 45/2.8 is not much narrower than the CV 40/1.2 which is about 42mm at infinity.

@Fred Miranda, @genji, @AZSteve Thanks for confirming that the FOV isn't much narrower.

I've finally assembled what I hope to be is my final lens kit! Might post about it later!

Dunno. What I liked most about was that, while turning the camera on, I already knew the "state" the camera would be in when I took my first shot.

But with decently configurable minimum shutter speed and auto-ISO, aperture priority is fine, really. I guess I also liked that better on the X100 than the a7ii.

Happy new year all. Here are some of our neighborhood wild turkeys. Shot through the glass patio door. There's some reflection in the upper right.
This one is a young gobbler (jake) still following and feeding with the flock of hens that roosts in the pine trees behind my house. His head is turning red, hens have blue heads, and you can see a nub on his ankle where a nasty looking claw will grow. Animal eye AF on the A7III didn't quite nail it
