I was admiring your cheetahs and leopards and thinking I got some similar shots when I was there. Your images are superb.
Then I saw the serval! What a great image! Congratulations. YGMV.

Great set. The cats are of course incredible, but there is nothing in the World like the colors and textures of the East African grasslands. This is well captured in your images, I can almost smell them sitting here in front of my monitor.

Bob I only have limited vacation hours at the work that allows me these luxuries 🤣🤣 if it wasn’t for that believe me I would have been on the twelve month program 🤣🤣

Dave,

Thanks for your kind words. One thing I have come to appreciate is the factor luck plays in our hobby. Yes we need to know how to use our gear, but no matter what if luck is not on our side, even spray and pray yields little. I got lucky and could pre-visualize some frames and again it worked, I should have bought my lottery ticket 🤣🤣

Thinking about planning for my first Safari next year. And one question for me was if I should take my 600 f/4. And if your images are any indication, looks like I should!

Thanks a lot. One of the reasons I took the 400 was for the low light hours. It was just perfect for that. I used the 1.4 and the 2x tc at other times or when I needed the reach. If you have a backup for the 600mm that is a little wider, please bring it. I had the 70-200 f/2.8 on my cropped sensor as a backup. It gave me the effective of 320mm on the longer end. But given that the iso performance of the 7d mkII does not get beyond 1600 for me, I did not use it too often. My landscape camera was my Fujifilm x100t and it did do well. PM me if I can be of any help.
