Been lurking here for a while trying to pick up tips. I mostly shoot bike races, but tried my hand at birding on a recent trip to Iceland. Would love constructive criticism as I'm always trying to improve!

Good work especially not being a regular bird photographer.

CC: The first two seem a bit underexposed for the bird. Not sure if you were shooting full Manual or if you were using a semi-auto mode and EC was at 0. If the latter then against sky you often need up to +2EC to expose the bird correctly. Since you shot them at ISO 100 you can easily bring up shadows or raise the entire exposure in post as the Z6 sensor can handle that no problem.

Other than the exposure my only nit with the first is the bird flying away from you. I love the landscape look of the 2nd image. The 3rd has a great perch and a nice look-back head angle towards the camera. I think all three compositions could be improved by moving the bird back in the frame a bit.

really helpful feedback, thank you! I was indeed on a semi-auto mode, will keep exposure against sky in mind for next time! I had a lot of fun, so I imagine this will be the first of many bird adventures. Will work to get a more forward angle next time. Thanks again for taking the time!
