I have a Manfrotto 190CXPRO4. It's nice and light, but it's also a little short.

Close to 100% of the time I now use a Feisol CT-3472 tripod that has in addition to the usual flat plate for mounting a head, a quick level base and a center column kit that can be installed. This gives me 3 different tripod options with the single set of legs.

The cost of the Feisol with its excellent carry case and the two head adapters was roughly half the cost of the RRS TVC-34L that I sold as the RRS legs were too long for air travel.

The Gitzo 2541LVL quick leveling tripod is one I use exclusively now for landscape photography and it has the Arca-Swiss D4 GP head mounted at all times. Great choice for outdoor wildlife video as well with a different head.

This week I added an iOptron tripod pier for astrophotography and at $600 is about mid range in terms of the tripods I have purchased over the years.

Saw this thread pop back up and figured I'd update what I said I used. I've used the FLM CP30-L4 II extensively since last summer and have nothing but praise for it. I'm 6'4", so the extra height is very welcome. Living in Colorado and in the age of COVID, most of the places I want to photograph don't require air travel, so I haven't had any problems with its folded length. Regardless, I've kept the Feisol 3442 for when international air travel is a thing again.

I was dissatisfied with unwanted movement in my Leofoto frankenstein head of the RH-2L/VH-10 monopod combo, so I've since upgraded to the Acratech Pano Head. I can't say enough good things about it. Truly a marvel of modern machining.

So my main setup now consists of the FLM CP30-L4 II, Leofoto LB-60 leveling base, and Acratech Pano Head (and a Leofoto NR-200 rail). For the money, I don't think there is a better option for a 6ft+ photographer. When backpacking, I also always carry the little Sunwayfoto T1C30N with a Leofoto MBC-20 ballhead and a Sunwayfoto CPC-02 for time lapses on my cell phone.

4 currently, although I may sell the Feisol now that I finally got my hands on its replacement (though I may keep it for international travel whenever that's a thing again).

New Primary: FLM CP30-L4 II w/ Leofoto LB-60 leveling base, RH-2L panning clamp, and VH-10 monopod head.
Former Primary: Feisol CT-3442 w/ Feisol leveling base and Manfrotto MVH500AH video head.
Mini-tripod: Sunwayfoto T1C30N w/ XB28II (Sunwayfoto version of Leofoto LS-223C or Sirui's AM-223)
Mini-tripod for audio recorder: Manfroto PIXI Mini Tripod

I own a big ole Gitzo GT3543XLS, but I really want a smaller RRS travel tripod. Considering the RRS Ascend.

15yo medium duty Gitzo Basalt with either a Sirui ball head or Nodal Ninja M2.
Very rarely have I wished for it to be bigger or smaller so I think I'm good.
Also have a monopod for sports.

So almost 2 years later, my set-up is still the same: a light weight Gitzo series 0 and an RRS Series 2. They haven’t failed me yet. Admittedly the PD tripod was interesting to me. Maybe when they have a beefier version.

It is the best compromises I could make for a single tripod, not crazy heavy, yet tall, doesn’t need to hold more than mirrorless gear, and can achieve precise level with enhanced panorama making capability.

That's a VERY well thought out set-up,Nat,,; even down to the red (loss-proof / high visibility) leg-warmers.

I confess to having a "thing" for those "quick set-up" Gitzo Mountaineers with the superb QD heads (w/ friction control). I've been oogling one on-line for the last couple of weeks, but I'm undecided about which series to go with. I've currently got the 2-series Gitzo Traveller kit with the GH-1382QD head, and a 3-series XLS Systematic with the GH-3382QD head, plus a 5-section 4-series Systematic with Jobu BWG-HD3 gimbal-head, and finally, a 3-section 5-series Systematic. I'll also be adding the new 4-series head GH-4383LR later this year. I can't really justify adding the Mountaineer,,, but whyyyy notttt.
I've also got a couple of Manfrotto tripods,,, a 294A3 and a 718B, and a no-name tabletop model that I'm hoping to lose somewhere,,,, where I can't find it.

Just to update mine.....

My most used is the TFC-24L with a Leofoto Quick Link ball head quick release mount and I swap either an Arca-Swiss P1+ w/Fliplock or a PMG Katana Jr gimbal head.

I added a FLM CP30-S4 II as a smaller setup. That normally has an Arca-Swiss P0/Acratech Lever Clamp on it, but I can swap with the above due to the Leofoto ball head quick release.

Very seldom I'll use the TFC-14.....and the rest pretty much gathers dust.

the new RRS ARC-LR makes the Acratech seem pretty crude in design and operation. but then again, the original RRS lever they make still works very well and it been in use by me since 2009.

I have an old, pretty-heavy Bogen (Manfrotto) tripod with a detachable center column for a L-shaped horizontal setup... use that for products and portraits.

I use an old lightweight Slik tripod for travel. Always take that one to shoots just in case I need a tripod.

I picked up a fancy carbon fiber one for cheap on eBay, but I never use it because it has twist locks. I highly prefer flip locks because I can set up and adjust flip lock tripods much faster.

I'm glad to see RRS finally came up with a locking one. I'm super paranoid and that was one knock on RRS for me (and I have quite a bit of RRS stuff.).

I never knew tripod setup / takedown is a speed thing.

just remember the the original Lever Lock literally follows the corner of the clamp and tucks under the plate. you gotta try really hard to screw up and inadvertently open it. a very deliberate action
