https://www.audubon.org/magazine/summer-2019/the-2019-audubon-photography-awards-top-100

I first saw this contest and the images on another website that appropriated them but left out the camera used and camera settings and lens used and aperture used. I find it useful to see how slow a shutter speed can work in some situations and the depth of field, or lack thereof, with a particular focal length and aperture.

I was struck by the patience exhibited by the photographers to get a great image. Many images were clearly the result of painstaking effort on the part of the shooter.

I notice that very nearly every image is taken with multi-thousand dollar kits - high end bodies, mid-level bodies, almost all very high-end lenses. There are a couple of exceptions, especially the ones in the youth categories. I cracked up at one shot, though, taken with a Canon T2i and a cheapo 70-300mm zoom. That's a standout combo for that set!

The photo of the Pipping Plover chick stretching its wings is by fellow FMer Gail Bisson. Congrats!
