Good for you. This is the second post I've seen with an injured Coopers hawk. I have one that hunts around my house and it's easy to see how they get injured. In high-speed chases, they go after other birds, acrobatically dodging branches and other obstacles. One day I heard a big bang on my front door. When I opened the door, the hawk was standing on a pile of dove feathers, but no dove. The hawk apparently went after a mourning dove nesting above the front porch and probably smashed the dove against the door, but the dove escaped. The hawk appeared to be ok, too.
