p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Alley Pond Park woods images

I took a walk in the woods in the Alley Creak area a few days ago. I kept scaring my subjects off and then I realized that I was planting my tripod while facing my subjects. Then I remembered Art Morris's advice to turn your back on your subject when planting your tripod so the legs don't appear to be reaching out as a lunge. The first images I'm presenting are safety shots taken before I had a chance to make adjustments so my ISO was low and thus a very slow shutter speed.

Good work not scaring them off Morris!!

I think your "Yellow warbler" is actually a female oriole or something else but not a Yellow warbler for sure.

Thank you Geoff,

You are correct they Orchard Orioles as I photographed the males a little later. I only knew about the Baltimore and saw two that day though always at a distance. I have not seen the Baltimore in Queens in years so I was very happy to see these attractive birds.
