Congratulation! Finally you get the system. I would say S1/S1R are really great. If AF doesn't bother you, then nothing is better I look forward to future sigma and Panasonic f1.8 line to show up. Try sigma 45mm, it is one of my favorite AF lens regardless price.
OTUS 55 ZE SL2. I am really into shallow DOF look sometimes
Thanks!
I'm still not sure why people complain about the AF actually. I've had the micro four thirds G9 for a year and a half now and it's the best AF I've ever used, spot on, full of different options (pin point, single area, multi area, custom area etc). It isn't the best to track very fast sport and birds in flight but it tracks windsurfers and people without much problem and the S1R, so far, seems to be every bit as good. I've never seen a system where the AF snaps in to place quicker than with Panasonic DFD.
I did have one moment yesterday when I compared it to my brothers Fujifilm X-H1 (PDAF) where the light was so low and without contrast where the Fuji did pick up AF where as the S1R did not, but it was an extreme case and moving the AF point a little bit with more contrast fixed it.
Again, the AF seems superb to me in 99% of the cases. Including tracking stuff.
I'm really surprised by the 24-105 actually, I'm getting some pretty impressive results from it not only with sharpness but actually with the quality of the bokeh which is better than I expected from a zoom lens like this.
The Sigma 45 F2.8 sure looks like a great little lens, small and compact with great image quality and character. I might very well add it in the future, especially since you seem to like it.
Having a hard time choosing between B&W and color now a days. A few years ago I was all B&W and in most ways I still like that best. But Lumix cameras do really great with color as well.
I too look forward to some F1.8 primes from Panasonic and hopefully Sigma. Actually, any new DG DN glass from Sigma will be very interesting. Their 105 Macro and 85 1.4 already seem very impressive.
