Few more from the garden earlier this summer. Again with the S1, this time with Sigma 35mm F1.2 & Milvus 1.4/85 ZE with MC21 & EF25.

Been hit and miss trying the Sigma 35mm for close ups - I mostly use for people - but these seem to have worked.

Finally!!!

Been thinking on and off whether to switch/add full frame again at all and the S1 has been on my wish list since it was released as some of you might remember.

Haven't been able to decide which system to go with, Panasonic or Nikon and since I love my m43 Panasonic G9 I've really been wanting the Lumix more than Nikon even though Nikon seems to be a little more aggressive when it comes to releasing lenses.

Happened to find a used S1R while browsing a camera store, it was supposed to be in "very good condition" but it turns out it's pretty much new. No signs of wear except a few specks of dust on the camera (about the amount you get when you unpack it). 900 pictures taken total. Delivered with the 24-105 lens in the same condition all in all for 3000 euro/dollar rather than the 4900 euro/dollar normal asking price. Too good to pass up and helped me make up my choice, that and the fact that Sigma are starting to get some real DG DN lenses out there and Leica lenses are really tempting in the future

One of the first shots. I'm very impressed so far. Not only with the image quality (even though my m43 lenses are superior at the moment) but also with the feel of the camera. It's so snappy, quick, evolved and smooth in its operation. The shutter almost goes unnoticed when you press the button.

I think I will be very happy

ISO 5000 with the 24-105. Only lens I have so far trying to decide what to get next.

Congratulation! Finally you get the system. I would say S1/S1R are really great. If AF doesn't bother you, then nothing is better I look forward to future sigma and Panasonic f1.8 line to show up. Try sigma 45mm, it is one of my favorite AF lens regardless price.

Thanks!

I'm still not sure why people complain about the AF actually. I've had the micro four thirds G9 for a year and a half now and it's the best AF I've ever used, spot on, full of different options (pin point, single area, multi area, custom area etc). It isn't the best to track very fast sport and birds in flight but it tracks windsurfers and people without much problem and the S1R, so far, seems to be every bit as good. I've never seen a system where the AF snaps in to place quicker than with Panasonic DFD.
I did have one moment yesterday when I compared it to my brothers Fujifilm X-H1 (PDAF) where the light was so low and without contrast where the Fuji did pick up AF where as the S1R did not, but it was an extreme case and moving the AF point a little bit with more contrast fixed it.

Again, the AF seems superb to me in 99% of the cases. Including tracking stuff.

I'm really surprised by the 24-105 actually, I'm getting some pretty impressive results from it not only with sharpness but actually with the quality of the bokeh which is better than I expected from a zoom lens like this.

The Sigma 45 F2.8 sure looks like a great little lens, small and compact with great image quality and character. I might very well add it in the future, especially since you seem to like it.

Having a hard time choosing between B&W and color now a days. A few years ago I was all B&W and in most ways I still like that best. But Lumix cameras do really great with color as well.

I too look forward to some F1.8 primes from Panasonic and hopefully Sigma. Actually, any new DG DN glass from Sigma will be very interesting. Their 105 Macro and 85 1.4 already seem very impressive.

The resolution from this camera is just amazing, and awesome and... I can go on but I won't.

24-105 F4 again at F11

The normal files are already SO superb but this is a high res shot, 187mp slightly cropped around the edges to get rid of unwanted objects. I notice I have to completely relearn some things coming from m43 though, such as depth of field.

The bridge is very sharp on the downsized sample though not quite as sharp on the full sized one, I first thought it was a depth of field issue but the buildings on the other side of the straight are sharper which leads me to believe the softness of the bridge has more to do with haze and atmospheric disturbances.

Some fantastic images in this thread showing how versatile this mount can be thanks to the whole range of lenses available to it. Hope to contribute sooner than later.
I wonder if anyone has experience with the Vario Elmar 11-23mm as I haven't seen any images in this thread. I have seen the sample images and they look good. I'm looking to build a good wide angle landscape kit that doesn't weigh a ton to take on hikes. The zoom range of 16-35mm on FF is perfect and the small minimum aperture of 3.5 is not a problem for landscapes. Would be grateful if anyone would share some images.

Searching for fall reds and yellows in Southern California. Only out for a little while and found a usual mix of stuff for this time of year. Where we have some good color change, it just gets wiped out by high heat the next day. So many trees are just scattered looking with big chunks of green, bald spots and brown. A few nicely colored tress here and there. I think there is still time for a nice showing at the lower elevations...we will see. All are SL with the Panasonic 24-105. The lens is versatile but for me not quite what I'm after so I'll be taking some changes. Couldn't help but add a couple other red and yellow finds.

I use prime lenses mostly but I do like the Leica Vario-Elmarit 24-90 SL lens very much, very versatile with excellent IQ. It also has OIS, which is helpful for low shutter speeds. The only downside is its size/weight. Here is another image using that lens with Leica SL.

I appreciate you sharing thoughts on this. This lens is one I have been considering, but trying to find the right balance of size/weight/portability. Image looks great for sure!

A great egret just took off. Edited to give an old analogue high contrast film feel.
