That classical rendering of both lens and sensor.

I miss my 7S and always loved the way it painted a better picture, not sure how it was possible or if it was real but I always felt that sensor had a little something no other camera could offer.

Am I bonkers or does a modern 12mp FF sensor look different to say 24-60?

Bought mine pig-n-poke off e-bay. You never know. Arrived in pristine condition/I couldn't tell it wasn't new. 1846
shutter clicks. Had one years ago, always regretting parting with it.

I’m looking for a clean A7S if you get tired of it!

I had one a while back and sold it. Pretty much regretted it since. Thanks, I guess that is part of the fun…

review of Samyang AF 45 mm f/1.8 Tiny FE by Mark GOLDSTEIN from Photography Blog :

Samyang AF 45mm f/1.8 FE Photography Blog Review

“The Samyang AF 45mm f/1.8 FE is a small and lightweight standard prime lens that's both pin-sharp in the centre and capable of delivering some lovely bokeh, whilst being more compact and capable of focusing more quickly and quietly than the heavier, more sluggish Sony FE 50mm F1.8. It doesn't feature any degree of weather-proofing, though, and it actually costs a little more than its main rival.

45mm sounds like a rather odd choice of focal length for a standard prime lens, but Samyang point out that it provides a more natural angle of view than more "stuffy-feeling" 50mm lenses. We liked the slightly wider-angle of view that it offers.

In terms of image quality, sharpness is very good in the centre when shooting wide-open at f/1.8 and outstanding from f/2.8 onwards, although the edges aren't quite as sharp, with f/2.8-f/11 producing the sharpest results. There is very little evidence of chromatic aberrations and some obvious but acceptable vignetting at wide-open apertures.

Auto-focusing was acceptably quick on the Sony Alpha A7 III that we tested the lens with, and the AF mechanism is pretty quiet too, making it well-suited for video use.

The build quality is fine rather than brilliant, a concession to the light-weight nature and budget price of this lens. The lens uses a mixture of plastics and metals in its construction and there's no weather-proofing of any kind.

At the time of writing, the Samyang AF 45mm f/1.8 FE sits between the cheaper Sony FE 50mm F1.8 and the more expensive Sony Zeiss 55mm F1.8 in terms of pricing. A very recent price drop in the UK from £349 to £265 positions it more closely to the former Sony lens, whilst significantly undercutting the latter one. Note that Samyang do include both a high-quality case and a lens hood.

Overall, the Samyang AF 45mm f/1.8 FE is a welcome addition to the somewhat crowded line-up of standard prime lenses for Sony Alpha cameras. It's a very portable lens that offers a slightly different view of the world, whilst producing images with lots of character at an attractive price.“

Mine had low kilometers too, because it was mostly used for video.

Man I miss that camera.
Still can't figure out why though!

I prefer 45 to 50 too, I especially dislike 55.

CV is so much sharper than Sammy in these.

I think Samyang AF 45/1.8 is a good lens for portrait and street photography, I believe Sanyang AF 45/1.8 and APO-Lanthar 2/50 will be my standard lens partner for a long time to come

So I made a quick comparison between the two and simulated the situation under non extreme conditions,I didn't compare infinity, because I would never using Samyang to shoot landscapes, and to compare infinity with powerful APO-Lanthar is doesn't make sense,I simulated conditions similar to those used to portrait photograph to compare them

Although the difference in sharpness is obvious, but Samyang's sharpness can meet the general requirements, and

Err, so what's your point?
Comparing a manual +$1000 lens to an autofocus $330 lens doesn't make any sense.

How's the autofocus on this little lens? I love this focal length as I have the CV 40 f1.2 but sometimes I want AF for certain types of portraits. I think this Samyang 45 1.8 and my Sony 85 FE 1.8 would make a great AF duo.
