So, while I wait for my replacement lens, I've been shooting with the one I have, and while I'm glad I'm getting another...honestly overall I could probably live with this if I had to. for subject separation or portraiture, the misaligned element isn't a big deal, as it's sharp at the focus point (surprisingly sharp...FE 55/1.8 sharp at least), and if you stop down to f/8 or so, the right edge becomes good...it's just that everywhere else it's outstanding stopped down.
The bokeh can be a little funky, but overall, I actually really like the rendering, and I think I'll like the lens quite a bit. I sold my FE 55/1.8 before I got my A7R IV, because I wasn't using it too much and at 24MP, the FE 50/1.8 isn't that big of a difference....but on the A7R IV, it's a BIG difference, and the Samyang 45mm is notably sharper than the FE 50/1.8.
A few quick shots from today:

Hey Jordan, I sold my 55 before I realised I needed one with AF for the occasional model shoot with my daughter. Plus I used to like using the FE55 for landscapes. I was contemplating just picking up a used FE55 which over here I could buy for about US$100 more than the price of a new Samyang 45mm which is actually a better FL to balance the 85/1.4 for my daughter's shoots. I have a CV 35 for landscapes so not too bothered about the 45mm in that regard but it would be nice if it could do double duty.
As I can check before buying I'd be interested to know which would you choose and why?
