Thanks! I'm really pleased!
Hard to answer since I only had the Batis for a couple of days => the eye af didn't work properly, that's why I sent it back.
And: I just got the Samyang and only took a few shots, to early for a final verdict. However ( ), right now I'm glad that the Batis showed the problems mentioned since I saved a lot of money and the Samyang seems to be exactly what I was looking for. Light, small, (very?) good image quality. It's true, I would prefer 40mm since it offers more versatility. And also true, you can go really close when using the Batis. I would have loved to make use of this feature. It's also versatility.
I really liked the bokeh of the batis as long as the background wasn't too diverse/demanding since it very quickly became busy. Well, that could also be called "character" but still it's a thing that might not be exactly what I was looking for when I bought it.
My plan is to use only one lens on my next holiday trip (to Portugal) in August. It's gonna be the Samyang 45 1.8. After that I will be able to be more specific about its pros and cons. ...Show more →
I took a trip a few years ago and used only the Contax G 45/2 and really enjoyed it. I have two children and it was a great focal length for people, animals, scenery, everything.
I was just in Portugal with the 24/1.4 GM and it was fantastic (beautiful country), but I would have really liked a small 45 to pair with it. I think that would be just about perfect!
I look forward to seeing what you capture with the Samyang on your trip!
