If only it was 35mm...

Then again, I got a lot of great shots from my a6300 + Sigma 30f1.4 when I owned that combo - having a FF equivalent version might not be that bad

Here is how much blur a 45/1.8 compares to a 35/1.4 at same distance (like the Samyang/Sony 35/1.4)

45/1.8 vs 40/2 (like the Batis 40/2 CF)

Yeah but that verges on the ridiculous side now, never seen anything like that happen on any other system, a sort of "ghost veto" to produce one of the most required lens by the user base, especially considering that Sony, at least for now, is not going to give us one. And for what? to protect the sales of the RX1RII that basically no one is going to buy new at this point in time?

Still totally puzzling to me..

It would make sense only if they are preparing a G/GM version and do not want to harm its prospective sales.

Samyang needs to do a compact 20mm 2.8 FE next. If they do, I can see myself getting that and the 45mm as my defacto street shooting pair on my Sony bodies!

The Sony 28 f2 does a great job with street shooting...what is lacking?

Can you tell me what number we're at so I can be sure to be #1000?

I'm probably getting one, but waiting to see price and actual angle of view. Given it's size, I'm thinking this is going to be a nifty 50 competitor, hopefully around $199 as opposed to their f/1.4 glass around $600-$700. Could replace a 55/1.8 whose rendering I like, but it's a bit long for my shooting.

If it comes in with a focal length closer to a real 42-43mm I'll be even happier.

I really dug the 45mm focal length on my old Yashica Lynx 5000, so I'll probably get it.

They're making cheap, small AF lenses for sony, what's not to like? I just wish they were built better.

Will wait for the traditional €100 drop after the first month to consider buying one. Still smarting from the 24/2.8 experience (it is superb for APS-C crop).

Besides, immediately after the intro, they post FW updates. That requires the lens dock at an extra cost. Not a fan of that business strategy.

Nice to get a native 45mm at least. I haven't found Samyang's 35/2.8 autofocus to be all that great though. Louder and more hunting than native lenses. If that's the case with this lens, it would compete closely with Sony's FE 50/1.8 at $200. Might be a hard sell unless that 5mm wider FOV is necessary.

I have the Canon 40 STM, the Canon 50 STM, and the Zeiss 55.

If this 45 has good sharpness, autofocus, and bokeh, it might replace all of them.

May be a good AF lens for those that don't shoot much 50mm, but want to fill the gap.
