Just did a senior portrait session a couple days ago, and the senior wanted pretty much all her pics with her horse. Thought I'd share of couple of my faves from the session.

Both great with composition and lighting, but love the 2nd for the emotional connection with her and her horse.

Thanks, Derrick. And yeah, for me, that's the keeper. I showed her the image when I took it, and she was very excited about it.

#2 is excellant Ron!! The spiritual connection between human and animal goes without saying. The exposure on 2 just makes it so well done!
#1 the bokeh is excellent. Personally I might darken the bg to isolate the subject more, but heh that is just me!

Thanks so much, Dan! Just did the viewing with the client today. I was a little bit shocked that she didn't pick No. 2, but picked a shot or two later or before where she was smiling up at the horse. She did take No. 1.

That's absolutely true, but we are also right in going for the looks that we like. It's like a dance. We might like the dip, and they go for the spin -- but both are true to our style, and beautiful.

You are correct Ron. I may not have phrased my comment correctly. You did exactly what I would have done and they picked the one's they liked. You present an option(s) for them to consider and they chose." Thank you client for looking at mine but you are paying the bill".

Every single detail about 2 is utterly sublime. Prolly should have let the horse choose the keepers.

Thanks, Chuck. My feelings exactly. After I took the shot, I felt my work was done. Maybe I'll post the pic tomorrow that she chose. To me, it was like C-plus or B-minus shot mainly because I wasn't in love with her expression. She (and her mom) obviously were, tho, and that's the important thing.

In a break between two shows by Ballet Chicago for their spring rep program at the Harris Theatre in downtown Chicago right now. Hopefully, I can post some pics from here pretty soon.
