| p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Central Florida Inland Lakes Part 1...Lots of Birds! | |
We got back from a few days exploring some inland lakes in central Florida last week. While the goal of the trip was to see a ton of osprey and bald eagles (which we did), there was also a lot of other interesting wildlife to see. The diversity of Florida's wildlife is amazing to me. In case anyone asks, the guide has asked me not to disclose locations, hope you understand.
Anyway, here are some pics of birds 'other than osprey and eagles'. I'm going to post those raptors separately. We had great weather, a superb guide (friend) and his wife, and it was just a great time.

Barred owl...we saw two pairs of these cool owls.

Roseate spoonbill in flight at a rookery, early morning light

Cattle egret in full breeding plumage...Lots of these at the rookery.

Anhinga catching some rays..

Blue heron flying...

Red shouldered hawk...not too many hawks around with all the bigger raptors lurking nearby

Sandhill crane. We saw one pair hanging out near the boat launch on the last day.

We saw tons of these guys around...
