I understand the dilemma. Perhaps worth a shot someday if you get bored I suppose. Is that ground pod really stable? What is the advantage of that over a tripod with arms spread way out?

It is extremely stable and it is smaller and lighter to carry. D850 with grip, 600 and converter are rock solid on the groundpod. It comes with a spot to attach a carabiner so it can hook onto any bag, or belt buckle or whatever. Plus it gets you quite a few inches lower to the ground than the tripod with legs fully splayed. $100 is expensive for a frisbee with threading but the product is excellent and well worth the money for me.

I always used to just use my tripod even though I bought the ground pod. When I actually used the ground pod I never one time used the tripod again for low angle shooting. It is that good.
