p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Adobe LR pricing

I am a retired hobbyist and longtime LR user. I currently run LR 5.7on a MAC. I am fully aware of the Adobe move to subscription pricing.

Upgrading has become an issue now because I purchased the new Canon RP. My choices seem to be to use the DNG converter, or do the subscription upgrade. My problem is that Adobe only offers me me Creative Cloud or the Photoshop/Lightroom plan for $19.99/mo. Both include 1TB of cloud storage which I don't need. It seems many here got a more affordable $9.99/mo. plan with less storage. But Adobe is not giving me that option.

I really don't want to fork over $20/mo. plus monthly fees for MS Office (which I need), etc. I really like LR, but should I continue to run 5.7 and convert to DNG, learn DPP 4.1 and stay with Canon, or what? Any suggestions appreciated. The $20/mo., extra cloud storage, is more than I prefer to spend, and more storage than I need. Thanks.

I took the DNG route and I am having no issues. Other than MAP is not working in 6.14.

The $9.99/mo plan is readily available. See three options at the bottom of the following web page.

Its funny. I pulled up that page and the offer to me is $19.99 for the Photography Plan (w/1 Tb of storage); $19.99/mo. for the "Lightroom" plan w/ 1 TB (NEW LR not classic which i want); and "Creative Cloud All Apps" at $52.99/mo.

I think they charge based on your history. I already have an Adobe PDF plan with them. When you add in the MS Office I think I'll pay a few other bills before this. I am willing to go the $9.99 plan to get LR classic and Photoshop, but as a hobbyist this is a bit much.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Look for affiliate links like this: Photoserge

There is a LR only version for $9.99. The photo bundle with LR + PS = $19.99

Actually the photo bundle with LR Classic (desktop), LR CC (mobile) PS and a free website is $9.99.

https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html

These are all the apps you get.

Don’t you think it’s too complicated?

I finally found the $9.99 offer - but on another computer. I think “cookies” probably dictate which offer you see. Thanks to all for your help!

If your willing to switch try out Capture One, it has a learning curve but is very fast and efficient.

Or if your willing to go to two programs, use ACDsee (For organization) with Photolab, which is an incredible photo editor. Or Darktable, a very good RAW processor that is free and open source.

And still complete and utterly useless for any camera producing CR3 still... CR3 are a problem for any software relying solely on open source solutions as it is a video format derived compression scheme which is a real chore to decode.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it gets fixed. I mainly use it with my Nikon files.

Just as an FYI for all ... none of the links shared in this thread took me to the traditional $9.99 Photography bundle (that includes Lightroom Classic and Photoshop with 20GB of Adobe Cloud storage). The links took me to where I could only purchase the $19.99 package with 1TB of Adobe cloud storage or Lightroom CC with and 1TB Adobe cloud storage. Not even the dropdown options would show the package desired until making multiple clicks around Adobe's site and using the link "See all plans" did the traditional 20GB plan appear. Even on that link, when I refreshed that page, the 20GB plan disappeared as an option and now only shows options for the 1TB plans.

Apparently Adobe has not removed the scavenger hunt for users to easily discover the option.

Did you try opening an incognito browser window or clearing your cookies?

That wasn't the point of my post ... I have been a subscriber for the original/traditional Photography package for several years now.

My point is ... One should not have to delete cookies or use a stealth mode to seek out the appropriate link. It should be easily accessible and plainly visible for everyone regardless of the browser configuration used. Period.

Of course. But Adobe's consumer interface has always sucked. Somewhere in their marketing department they think this is efficient.

Of course it is 'efficient' if they can divert new customers to a $20 plan vs the $10 plan.

Well if one is willing to pay $20 rather than $10...who are we to argue this point?

I am a bit puzzled why the links go to different web pages for you than they do for me. The link I provided takes me to a page where all three photography options are presented at the bottom of the page. I tried the other two links provided by jharter and zenon char and they also take me to web pages where the $9.99/mo option is presented. You say they all take you to a different page where the $9.99/mo option is not presented. What would Adobe use as a basis for presenting one page to me and another page to you? Even if there are cookies stored in my browser, what is the browser history that would be used to differentiate the users and store a different cookie that would trigger fewer options for you than are offered to me, jharter and zenon char? Makes no sense to me, even if Adobe is as evil many believe.

Not the point chez ... I begrudge no one the opportunity to spend as much money as they wish on whatever product or service they choose ... I'm merely pointing out that Adobe is intentionally obscuring an offering.
