Hi, I would like to know if anyone has both the GF 45 / 2.8 and GF 63 / 2.8 lenses and which one is better in the various parameters for landscape photography

I have both but I don't do landscapes. Stopped down they are as sharp as you'd ever want a lens to be, corner to corner, so I don't think you should choose one over the other for any other reason than focal length. Edit: I don't know about flare though. Haven't tried shooting into the sun yet.

For other uses involving bokeh, the 45 might have a slight edge over the 63. But both are brilliant. Much better than anything I've ever tried on 24x36.

I fully agreed with Makten's comments above. I found both lenses to be excellent performers all around. I think you should select one based on your preference of focal length. I used 45mm a bit more as a general walk-around lens. Here are two snap captures of my recent trip in Arizona.

Um. They are both taken with the 63mm. Whats the point of posting two photos from the exact same lens here ?!?

I dont have GFX yet. Dunno when I will have the budget for it. But I'm aiming at getting 45/2.8, 250/4 OIS, 23/4, 110/2, in that order of priority, for my personal needs.

For landscape however I'd ideally want 32-64/4, 100-200/5.6 OIS. They are excellent, for zooms, really more like prime lenses with a bit of wiggle room. And with landscape having the variability of the focal length really helps.

Probably because some people claim it's "inferior". It's not, it's just different.

Most prefer the zoom for landscapes within that focal range. I typically use my 23 or a tele for landscapes. I prefer the 45 focal length & focus speed but the 63 is also excellent as previously mentioned.

I had a no zoom rule so I passed on the 32-64 but may pickup the 100-200 which Iím renting right now. Large but relatively light and excellent rendering.

Agreed. It is definitely just different which is seemingly mostly due to focal length. From memory though, I did prefer the 45 over the 63 in general simply based on AF speed. The 45 just seemed to be a bit more consistently confident.

Sorry that I didn't post the correct image. Here are few taken with 45mm lens.

Both lenses are close to equal in sharpness and bokeh quality, with an edge to the 63 for bokeh simply due to the longer focal length. Best advice is to choose the focal length that best suits your subjects to date. Second best advice is to buy both.

I wish that 45mm was f2 lens. It is so light, Fuji could have made it f2.

I am glad they didn't. Right now in angle of view and depth of field it is about like a 35ish f/2 lens on FF 35mm. I find that to be a really useful lens. I do hope in time they make a fast (at least f/2) 35 or 40, however.

So you don't like 35mm f1.4 FF equivalent (if 45mm was f2 lens instead of 2.8), but want 27mm f1.4 (FF equivalent) or the 31mm f1.4 (FF). Funny.

Well, it isn't about what I want. I don't really want any AF lens, but I bought the 45 f/2.8 because I couldn't find an adapted MF lens that suited my needs on the GFX and the 45 f/2.8 was at least fairly small. I am pretty sure I would get either of the fast wide angles. The 45 f/2.8 will be good enough for my needs at this angle of view.

And the FF 35mm equivalent depends on the aspect ratio you shoot. I almost always shoot in 4 X 3 or squarer, so the equivalent with that aspect ratio is about a 28 f/1.4 for the 40 f/2 and about a 25 f/1.4 for the 35 f/2. I think both of those would make sense for someone like me who shoots most things in 4 X 3 or squarer. They aren't crazy either for people who shoot 3 X 2 or a skinnier rectangle either. For those folks a 40 f/1.8 would be more the FF 35mm equivalent of a 33 f/1.4 and a 35 f/1.8 would be about the equivalent of a 28 f/1.4. So either way you tend to crop a 35 for a 40 could also make sense, so I think a lot of people could find them useful even though I am pretty sure I wouldn't get either one of them. It is only if you don't think about cropping at all and you use the .79 crop factor which would correspond to something like a 9 X 5 aspect ratio that you get the weird 27mm and 31mm and even there the 27mm isn't that weird--a lot of lens labelled 28mm are closer to 27mm.

Amazing photos.... the 63mm is my favourite. Love the rendering coming out of that lens.

There isn't a stinker in the GF lineup.

Oddly enough, the 63mm is the lens I use least, mostly because I prefer 35mm (135) more, at least the for the past few years.

Even I had to think for a moment until I realized you meant 135 film (aka 35mm film aka small format aka full frame aka 36x24mm) and so you're talking about the 45/2.8.

Having both lenses I would agree with others that they are both very good, with the 45mm getting a slight edge in focus speed and optical quality, while the 63mm is slightly lighter - 405g vs 490g. If I could choose only one, it would be the 45mm, but I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy shooting with the very versatile 63mm, and I don't have any plans to part with it.

hello,im have gf50 3.5, but not like sharpness at f3.5 what is sharpest gf lens at f2.8? gf 45 vs gf63 ? pcmag shows that at f2.8 are sharper 63 a bit centre, https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/fujifilm-fujinon-gf-63mm-f28-r-wr , but from f4 sharper is gf45 https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/fujifilm-fujinon-gf-45mm-f28-r-wr
