It was warm for February yet very windy at Jamaica Bay Thursday evening. I set up in my favorite place to do flight images and quickly moved to between some bushes to get out of the wind. Two hours after I arrived the sun was setting and a large flock of snow geese blasted off. I composed and tripped the shutter and nothing. I trouble shot for a couple of minutes with the stunning light fading. My conclusion was that my finger was too cold and not operating the shutter release properly. A few minutes of my hands in my pockets with gloves on and when this goose flew over I hit the quick release and was able to capture the photo. On returning to the car I was shocked to discover it was 40f, the 50 MPH guests had stolen the heat out of my hands.
