Went to see the Snow Monkeys. No snow falling and they did not go in the hot bath.
So took a few portraits. These two I liked the best.

Thanks All -
Lived here in Japan for 30 years now and first time to go see the Snow Monkeys.
1.8km trek one way on an icy narrow path, snow on the ground, but a sunny blue sky day. Many monkeys many people, many cameras! But monkeys enjoyed sitting in the sun and on the edge of the hot bath, but none went in. As mentioned, just not cold enough on that day.

I had seen a nature show monkeys visiting these hot baths - and the hierarchy of which ones get to go in the baths vs. the ones that aren't allowed. Is this the same monkey that has that behavior?

Hi Pasblues -
Yes. Not sure about not allowing, but there are three dominant males which exercise control there. ALL monkeys (approximately 100) are photographed and named and lineage (maternal) confirmed by the park ranger staff. I am told, only the Alpha Male does not go in the bath. Most monkeys, I heard, are female.
