This is the "In Yo' Face" sequence in my B.O. Love series. I was photographing the female at the furthest burrow, so I used the 2X to have her fill the frame more so in my images. The first image required cropping. The others were full frame or slight crop from FF. I had already photographed them mating the same day but with the 1.4x which required some cropping in pp. Anyways, she runs up to me by another burrow I'm closer to and the male comes in and they're mating. It was all over in just a few seconds, so I had no time at all to remove the 2X to get a better composition and better dof. Even though I clipped all of the wing action, I was happy that I was unobtrusive enough for them to act naturally and mate in this way so close to me.

Herb, I could have sworn that part 3 would show owl chicks.... and now I am anxiously waiting for part 4 then

. At any rate, these images superb. You certainly know how to capture owls during their tender moments.

This is a truly special series. For the fist image I would have shot it with the 1.4X only as you clipped the virtual feet.

Thanks Juan. A 1.4X shot would have required more cropping in pp, I think, reducing quality in the end. As you can see in another uncropped image with the 2X, there were virtually no feet to photograph.
