A mirrorless design for a short flange distance allows lenses to be smaller at the wider range but once FL reaches 35mm, mirrorless designs starts to lose the benefit of being more compact.
I predict that just like with any other zoom, the 28mm FL won't be as good as the others in the range. It could perform very well at 21mm compared to the CV 21 or even the Loxia 21/2.8.
Rendering is another story and I personally dislike the popular 28-75/2.8 for this reason alone. This is very subjective though.
That is intetesting. I would have been fine if it were a bit larger in exchange for a bit more reach, perhaps closer to the size of the 28-75.
I agree that there are aspects of the 28-75's rendering that are not spectacular. The bokeh can be harsh under certain circumstances and circles become half moons towards the edges, but in other conditions I don't find the bokeh to be all that objectionable. Meanwhile, shooting into the sun provokes all kinds of madness. It's not my favorite lens, but warts and all, it is my most used lens, especially when traveling. I'm really hoping this little guy has better flare resistance and at least useable sun stars.
