That's exciting. A very appealing range by itself, and it matches up nicely with the Tamron 28-75/2.8.

Interesting option. I could almost justify owning this alongside the 16-35/f4.

With the way Tamron is going, I would guess that rumored "70-200" will be more like 75-180/f2.8

That's a good guess. Maybe even 75-150/2.8. Smaller & lighter than 70-200, but still f/2.8 for indoors and shallow DOF.

This would pair nicely with the 24-105 even for total landscape coverage. I rarely shoot wider than 17 for landscapes because of UWA distortion.

I have the Batis 18mm. It is sharper than all my other zooms. Light too although not small. I would expect the Tamron to attempt to compete with the Sony 16-35 F2.8 by limiting the zoom range for a less challenging and cheaper to implement zoom design.

I've been considering the Tamron 28-75 for the last year, but was hard to justify it in addition to the 55mm 1.8 (and Batis 135).

The 55 is somewhat limiting indoors though, so was considering the 28mm or the 24mm GM (With the lack of a 35mm f1.8 or f2).

This seems like a pretty nice option, both for a wider angle for indoors, and to dabble in UWA too.

Yep..... I've also the 24-105 that covers the most of my needs (with the amazing 24 gm for the low light situations), and I was looking for a good IQ and light (!!!) lens in the range 15/18 to be used once in a while....that's why the Batis 18 probably is too much .. this lens can be a cheaper alternative for the few circumstances I'm going to use it

You know what, with the 150-500 coming down the pipeline, I think you're absolutely right that it will be 75-150.

Good option, especially if it's priced well and small- but with a CV 15 and 24 GM that aren't going anywhere, I've got no need for it right now.

Well this is making me feel vindicated for not waiting for Tamron and getting the GM instead. I know it's "only 20mm" but sometimes you can't always get closer. Granted nothing is announced still but these zoom ranges are kind of weird.

Damn I was just about ready to buy a Batis 18 or loxia 21. Probably still buy the loxia eventually anyway. Think I will hold out and see how good this tamron is. Gonna be for landscapes only at f8-11

I’m trying to strike a balance between patience in purchasing new gear, but also not wanting to get stuck in a months long wait. I’m really enjoying the 28-75, so the idea of a wide zoom is intriguing, but I know there were some issues with early version of the 28-75 that would suggest caution is the way to go.

In any case, if they can deliver on a full zoom range with two additional lenses, it might be a reasonable option for a hobbyist and part-time creative Sony shooter to go with Tamrons for the zooms and Sony on primes

Well I have a Canon 16-35f4.0L on Metabones that I've not yet parted with along with a bargain dusty Sony 16-35 f4.0 which was probably going to be my wide travel zoom, hmm maybe one more to add to the mix
