I spent a recent weekend with my family up in Bodega Bay, CA, where Alfred Hitchcock shot his classic movie, The Birds.

Good looking set, Jim. I am totally enamored with #1. One of the best scoter pictures I've seen.

I'm with Ken, low angle, proximity and clarity. But all are good, Jim.

Nice. The Surf Scoters here are enormously shy. You gingerly walk towards the shoreline and they all swim away like there's a force field between you and them. Even with a 2x on my 500 f/4, they're too far away.

I was laying on a dock as the birds swam around. They first swam off when I got in position, but they eventually moved closer again. Ended up with a fair amount of gull scat on me, but it was worth it for the low angle.
