If the 100mm has a 67mm filter or less, I am in. 72mm is pretty much my tipping point for under 135mm prime.

I wonder if the a FE 100/1.4 GM would give me better images than the FE 85/1.4 GM...Both are pretty much portrait specialists.

I’m thinking the same as I’ve been debating going back to the GM 85. Been thinking they may have improved the AF mechanics and electronics in a new GM. I think we have seen this in the 400 and 24. I’m not certain of which lenses exactly have seen this improvement but my guess it will continue down the line. I would like to see a couple version II on some lenses that incorporate this.

Well, the A-mount was $1800...so factoring in the recent Sony-tax I'd hope it'd be ~$2000 or less with any luck. I think they'd have to price it more than the 85mm (or else those buyers would be displeased) so it'll definitely cost more than $1800. I'm hoping for $2000 for a similar size as the A-mount, or $2200 for a 105mm f1.4 the same size/performance as the Nikon.

If that ends up being the case I might sell my 85GM since I have a 85 1.8 & Loxia 85 and use the 100 GM instead.

I probably would be not getting the 135 1.8 then either and keeping my Batis 135.

The only reason I am interested in the 135 1.8 is for bokeh and the 100 GM 1.4 would be as good and I would still have the lghtweight Batis 135.

We need to see how the rumored 100/1.4 GM performs first and if it's at least in the same league as the 85/1.4 GM in terms of rendering and mechanical vignetting (cat-eyes). Aside from that, if Sony is able to make AF faster and allow compatibility with the teleconverters, it would be hard to resist it.

That’s what I would do as well is to keep my Batis 135 as that is going in the box with me unless my wife burns my ass.

I have the Batis 85 now but if this 100 can focus fast I’ll replace the Batis and wind up with a GM 100 which at least equal one would hope the GM85.

Didn't Sony announce plans to release 12 new lenses in 2019? I know some will be much needed APS-C lenses, but I would expect 3-4 of them to be FF and 135mm to be one of those. The 100mm I was not expecting, but if Sony filed the patents for both at the same time then I would assume they were in the first phase of development around the same time.

Sony definitely slowed down dropping lenses. It looks like at least the 135 GM will be released in 2019.
