Dont buy one then, but you are really only cheating yourself out of a great lens STILL at a great price of $879. Its not going to bother tamron one bit as somebody else will GLADLY buy the copy you dont want, even at $879.00.
It's the principle. I'm not going to buy a lens if the company decides they can get away with a large price increase "just because". If it were a case of that lens needing to be sold at that price in order to make a profit then that's what they would have priced it at from the outset. I don't know if this is an official move from Tamron or just from that one shop, but if they're raising the MSRP just because they want to make a quick and dirty buck then that's not something I want to support.
I'm not buying the GM either because its price is absolutely unreasonable, but for my needs at least the GM would deliver professional quality results. The Tamron is a compromise lens in just about every way.
