Haven't seen an official announcement but it appears the price has increased from $799 to $879. And it's in-stock at Focus Camera at the new price.

I had considered picking one of these up just for grins to have in the bag. But out of principle, I will definitely not be picking up one of these now. lol.

I'm not surprised. I was lucky enough to get one last month from B&H after being on the waiting list for several weeks. Well worth the wait. Incredible lens in so many ways.

I wonder if one feels better buying a lens like the Batis 135 for $2,000 and find out later it can be had for $1,300 or watching the price increase on a lens they want?

Glad I got mine last week when they were in stock on B&H.
I to am not shocked either since they cant keep up with demand on these things. The only thing that troubles me is the 70-200 coming later this year and not being able to produce them because of the 28-75 bottleneck.

LMAO...yes because a lens that can come close the $2200 sony is a steal at $799. But $80 bucks more and all the sudden its a rip off at $879.00.

Dont buy one then, but you are really only cheating yourself out of a great lens STILL at a great price of $879. Its not going to bother tamron one bit as somebody else will GLADLY buy the copy you dont want, even at $879.00.

I loaned my copy out to a friend for a month, and it hurt towards the end. Waiting can be hard if you're looking to use one in the near future

Now the focuscamera.com seems still have some bundles for this lens for around 830 dollars. I picked one today.

It's the principle. I'm not going to buy a lens if the company decides they can get away with a large price increase "just because". If it were a case of that lens needing to be sold at that price in order to make a profit then that's what they would have priced it at from the outset. I don't know if this is an official move from Tamron or just from that one shop, but if they're raising the MSRP just because they want to make a quick and dirty buck then that's not something I want to support.

I'm not buying the GM either because its price is absolutely unreasonable, but for my needs at least the GM would deliver professional quality results. The Tamron is a compromise lens in just about every way.

Strong the butthurt is with this one

Maybe they needed to raise the price because the demand is so high for this lens its costing them more in labor, getting more parts on short notice or maybe something unforeseen happened. You really dont know.

Dont buy one, I am sure tamron is already planning on how they can recover from the financial pain your moral standards have inflicted upon them.

I'm not surprised because people keep saying it's a bargain!
I never buy any lenses, cameras which prices increased by manufactures. I'm okay with prices increased by retailers due to supply/demand, but MRSP increased by manufactures because people like it? No thanks! Bad business.
Why people can't wait for another year? I bet this time next year, they will sale for $699 or even less.

Hey Scoobert, how's it going? Dunno if you've heard of the site Dpreview.com but I think the forums there may be more up your alley. I'm sure your juvenile insults will feel right at home.

Regards,
Timothy
