Shot this one a few years ago at the Crane Festival and just got around to processing it. Magic place...

Nice shot, do the sandhill cranes winter there?

Without that tree you would have a wall hanger. I don't know how you feel about removing things, that tree could be removed and then a super print made

Thanks Mike. Yes, the cranes and other migratory birds spend the winter at the Bosque. Lots of other wildlife as well. Plus there is the amazing light that happens there all Winter.

Thanks for the comments. The birds tended to circle that tree when landing as if it were some sort of landmark for them. So I keyed in on it and grew to like it. But your right, it might be distraction in the image.

The Bosque is known for amazing colors at sunrise and sunset. This was a magic day.

Another tree hater. I will try one without the tree. Thanks for the comments Morris.

You could however have the tree in either the LHS or RHS of the frame and that would be okay. Again MHO, your preference could be different.

Ok, I tried to quick removal of the tree. It was OK, but in my opinion the image lacked depth. It would have taken a lot more work to do a perfect removal without artifacts.

However, building on Kdacharya's suggestion I have processed the frame just prior to the original. This moves the tree over to the right hand side. Yes, this may be a better composition, and still allows the tree to provide a sense of depth.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

What do you think about the new version?
