I second the recommendation for Kerouac's. No, really. ;-)
On my first visit to GBNP I drove straight through from the west coast to Baker, where I had a reservation in the tiny hotel next door to the restaurant the first night. (I would camp for the rest of my stay, but I knew I'd arrive late the first night.)
When I stopped in Eli to get gas I wasn't sure what would still be open in Baker, so I stopped at some fast-food joint and ate... something. Not very good, but at least I knew I'd get dinner. I got back on the road to finish the drive to Baker, smug about not missing dinner.
Then I arrived in Baker and found the tiny motel (not easy to do in the darkness in this remote place, by the way) and I was stunned to see the restaurant next door, lit up inside, full of patrons... in a town that probably has about 50 permanent residents. I almost decided to have a second dinner just because I could, but good sense took over and I passed on that and went back to the motel to sleep. The next morning I headed up into the park and set up camp.
But later on the trip I came down from the park and did eat there and, yes, it is surprisingly good — amazingly good given the remote location.
