So maybe a silly question but maybe nice to know. What I’m seeing here is lenses that are Flat field like the Sony 24/50 have less cats eye. So this begs the question is cats eye more a flat field / FC issue or more about the curve of elements in the lens. Why I ask also is in every lens we have seen it’s outside the center area where we see more of it. So I’m assuming it’s either The element curve of the front end elements or more about field curvature. Or something else

Thoughts?

I think it's just coincidence. "Cat-eyes" is caused by optical vignetting.

I still have the 18mm to test (not sure why) but Batis 40 wins the day for the Batis lineup IMHO. Also, I know others have mentioned that the Batis OOF is busy or that the transition is harsh - I must have received a nice copy or have low standards. I'm loving so much about this little guy.

The Nikon Nikkor 200mm f/2 AI-S has fairly round bokeh balls.

Lots of CA wide open, however.
