Attended a mock wedding shoot. The organizer had two models, two make up artists, a location and snacks for a little more than $100. About a third of the 15 or so photographers had pro gear and experience directing a model.

For some reasons both images seem to suffer from pronounced back focus, despite being made with two different cameras and two different lenses. The face is unsharp, while parts of the hair are sharp.

One possible reason for the back focus. The model is very tall. In order to focus I had to place the focus point on the face and recompose to get the composition. Since I shot it wide open the recomposition may have caused focus shift.

Politelyfully so, if the eyes aren’t in focus here, the photos aren’t good to use. Just my opinion.

Do you have more shots where you were the “sole” photographer and she was only your subject. Be curious to see.

I am not really seeing the issues that others are even though the consensus is valid. In #1 her face is too dark.
I am not a portrait person mainly because it is indeed very tough to do for me while 2nd hand to you and others.
The model is indeed beautiful and I find the backgrounds fine but not familiar with the term "back focus".

So I learned something new!
Good luck!
Dan

Well that means the actual focus is behind the intended focus.

The intended focus being the eyes, most of the time, with portraiture.

In this case its pretty obvious in the images above, even at web resolutions.
