I was heading back to my cabin after a day of photography in the field when I heard a rustling in the bushes at the end of the porch. I quickly put down my tripod with the big lens and reached for the camera I had hanging around my neck.

It was quite a surprise. This cub and it's mother had been walking through the lodge grounds on their way up from the beach. I thought they had made their way beyond our area. I'm just glad it was the small cub and not the mother. She's a large brown bear!
