The first one is a great shot with the lighting on the hawk's face. It really provides a near 3-D perspective that is rare with bird photos of raptors.
Suspect you are shooting at maximum fps to get this image and clearly well worth your efforts.

That's correct when I'm shooting birds IF, switch when I'm shooting static subjects.
