p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · A6000 need advice

I’m about to pull the trigger on a A6000, buying as a second camera; I am looking at two options

• Sony Alpha A6000 Mirrorless Camera with 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS & 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS Lenses = $598
• Demo unit Sony Alpha A6000, with 1-year warranty for $307 & Sony 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS for $598 = $905

Knowing that if I bought the kit lenses, I would buy some better lenses in the future and the kit lenses would set on the shelf, I have no idea if the kit lenses are very marketable

So, should I spend the bucks now and by the Demo unit

Thank you for any comments

I would go demo. The 18-135 is solid for what it is. The 16-50 isn't very good. I liked the 16-70/4 a lot.

I agree that the 16-50 kit lens is not a good choice. I wanted primes and found the Sig Art 19, 30, & 60. I just don't find the power zoom matches the potential.

thank you for the comments; as a second camera, I am looking for a decent walk around lens to get started without spending a lot of money, over time I plan on adding better primes, thanks again

I bought the 16-50 + 55-210 kit. The 55-210 isn’t really good at all (slow and soft, especially at 190+mm). The 16-50, for the money, isn’t bad however this doesn’t mean it is a good lens.
I bought the 18-105f4 and that would be my top recommendation, however in your case go for the 18-135.

Since it's a demo unit, see if you can get them to knock $100 off the 18-135 price. Then it's a decent deal. It's not at $900.

The 18-135 is very sharp and small.

18-135 is a revelation to me. Its not a “kit lens”. Its relatively expensive also. My eyes couldn’t discern difference in sharpness between this and 24-105, at F8 11. Both are slow lenses so even the look is exact same. 18-135 is incredibly small, and great lens for hiking.
